Working with the juniors over the years make me want to learn more on how to empower them through tennis and then came along First Serve.

I must say that the highlight of my YTA experience has been the visit by Arthur Ashes aunt to Bear Trax, and the wisdom that she shared with the juniors.  Arthur created the National Junior Tennis League with the hope that inner city kids could have a place to play the game.  Thank you Arthur.

With 10 and under underway I decided to help promote the programming with a 10 and under Play Day at U.C. Berkely on Hellman courts.  Over 40 juniors and parents came out to see if this was something they would like to do.  With parents as judges and time keepers everyone had something to do and with prizes and racquets given to everyone it was just the beginning of many more to come.

PTR CERTIFICATION FOR NEW SFTC TRAINING CENTER

With San Francisco Tennis Club becoming a 10 and under training center, I decided to get my certification to assist the new direction in junior programming.

As everyone stills call me" Coach White", most of my coaching days are behind me after coaching the men and women tennis teams at North Carolina A&T Univ. of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference.  Those were my first days of teaching tennis after receiving my certification from the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).  After my coaching (13 yrs) decided to get back to the grass root programs of Junior Tennis and working with the National Junior Tennis League started by Arthur Ashe.  My first job came by way of the largest NJTL program in the country, New York Junior Tennis League (NYJTL) an after school program working with juniors with tennis instruction.  With sites in Chelsa to the other end of the island in Harlem each day was indeed a challenge to help junior learn the game of tennis.  I had the pleasure of working with our high performance juniors at the USTA center in Queens and also at the Harlem Armory where not only James Blake and his brother played but Arthur Ashe and Althea Gibson.

After giving a chance to join a newly  formed program in CA. with Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA) which I accepted while working at a tennis club in San Francisco (SFTC).  To continue with my junior training education received junior certification for 10 and under development from PTR.  Tennis like may sports have recognized the importance of giving children the opportunity to learn and play.  For juniors to be attracted to and succeed in a sport, the equipment, playing area and competitive structures need to be appropriate.
